'After a few weeks of quiet contemplation but painfully with my daughter and wife, I have chosen to end my efforts to involve in the Haitian presidential election, " Wyclef Jean said.

"This is not an easy conclusion, but it was made based on careful thought," Wyclef said.

Wyclef Jean, who were born in Haiti but has spent most of his life in United States, said that he will now concentrate on hip hop music. He said he plans to release a new hip hop album next year, with the title "If I Were President, the Haitian Experience".

Haiti's electoral commission decided in August that Wyclef Jean is failed to meet the requirement that said the President candidates must be living in the country for five consecutive years before he ran as a President candidate.

Wyclef Jean has said that he would appeal the decision, but officials in Haiti election declared that the decision was legal under the laws.
