Paul McCartney has long been known to the public as a vegetarian. However, this was Paul McCartney first time joined in a campaign to encourage the public to stop eating meat once a week. This campaign called as Meat Free Monday.

"I'm only a vegetarian who does not want to interfere other people business, but Meat Free Monday campaign has changed my perception," Paul McCartney said.

Meat Free Monday campaign that followed by Sir Paul McCartney was actually initiated by actress Gwyneth Paltrow who released the environmental-themed newsletter, GOOP newsletter, which contains recommendations to the public to notice their life pattern and its impact on the environment.

"Hi Goopsters! Hi Gwyneth! Since 2006 the meat processing industry has become the largest contributor to pollution when compared with the amount of pollution generated by the greenhouse effect or any smoke coming out from motor vehicles in the entire United States," Paul McCartney writes in his GOOP newsletter column.
