Los Angeles - The late Michael Jackson reach five American Music Award nominations in 2009 American Music Awards. One of them is nominated as Artist of the Year.AMA nomination list was announced Tuesday (Wednesday morning, GMT) at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Los Angeles. Former American Idol judges, Paula Abdul with Idol runner-up Adam Lambert and Snoop Dog made the announcement.
For this supreme gift, Michael Jackson has to compete with Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Eminem, and Kings of Leon.
Jacko, who died on June 25 due to his heart failure, was also nominated for pop / rock and soul / R & B category. In addition Michael Jackson was also nominated as Favorite Male Singer for pop / rock and soul / RB and Favorite Album for the same category.
Overall, Taylor Swift leads the nomination list this year. He championed win in six categories, followed by Jackson with five nominations, Eminem (4), and Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon, and IT (each three nominations).
AMA Nominations for 2009 consists of eight categories, namely pop / rock, country, soul / R & B, rap / hip hop, Latin music, music alternative, contemporary inspirational and adult contemporary. Total, there are 20 award that will be presented on November 22.
